Friday Night Cocktails: Old Friends

Giving thanks for family and old friends is the essence of the Thanksgiving holiday. This has inspired us to explore the family of “Old Friend” cocktails. Each cocktail contains freshly squeezed Florida pink grapefruit juice (always strained) and a bitter liqueur. Two feature dry gin and two respado mezcal. Campari is the classic Italian bitter featured in most of the recipes. St. Germain is the classic elder flower liqueur featured in some of the recipes. The Freise Corner Bar original My Friend Iris substitutes Gran Classico by Tempus Fugit and a unique Iris Liqueur. If floral liqueurs are not in your bar stock, the Old Acquaintance substitutes freshly squeeze lime juice and simple syrup for the floral liqueur.
